Bedtime

Dream Horses
Last night I had a wonderful dream
About all kinds of horses I’d never seen.
Around and around my bed
Trotted a horse that was vibrant and red.
From out of the midnight hue,
Ran a horse of a lovely blue.
Then to my delight I did behold
A horse of brilliant, deep rich gold.
Appearing from the bright moonlight
Was a horse that shone a dazzling white.
The last horse that night to be seen
Was an amazing horse, his color green.
Five sparkling horses met me in my dreams
When both moonlight and starlight gleams.

Fingerplays:

Going to Bed
This little child is going to bed,
                [point to self]
Down on the pillow he lays his head.
                [lay head on hands]
He wraps himself in a blanket tight
                [hug body]
And this is the way he sleeps all night.
“Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!”
                [snore]

Time for Bed
Time for bed,
Fluff up the pillow,
Lay down your head.
[lay head on hands]
Pull up the blanket,
Tuck it in tight.
[arms down tightly against sides]
Close your eyes
[close eyes]
And sleep all night.
                [snore]

I Dreamt...
I dreamt I was an elephant
With a trunk so very long,
[extend arm out]
Eating lots of leaves
To grow up strong.
[flex muscles]
I dreamt I was an octopus
With eight long arms,
[wave arms]
Swimming through the ocean
With my undersea charms.
                [pretend to swim]
I dreamt I was a butterfly
With wings bold and bright,
[clasp thumbs and flap hands]
Flying all day long
Until the dark of night.
                [pretend to fly]
I dreamt I was a child
And reading was what I loved to do –
[close and open palms]
When I woke up,
My dream came true!
                [stretch and yawn]
