Fingerplays:

A Day at the Beach
Ocean breeze blowing,
                [blow]
Feet kick and splash,
                [kick feet]
Ocean waves breaking on the rocks with a crash!
                [clap]
Boys finding seashells,
                [pretend to pick up shells]
Girls sifting sand,
                [pretend to pour sand]
Friends building castles
                [hold hands]
As high as they can!
                [reach up high]

Shell
I found a great big shell one day,
                [cup hands]
Upon the ocean floor.
                [point to floor]
I held it up close to my ear
[hold cupped hands up to ear]
And I heard the ocean roar!

Little Seashell
If you find a little seashell while walking on the sand,
                [walk in place]
Bend right down and pick it up
                [bend down]
And hold it in your hand.
                [hold hand out]
When you take the seashell home,
                [walk in place]
Just hold it to your ear
[hold cupped hands up to ear]
And listen very carefully, the ocean’s what you’ll hear!

Seashell
Holding up a seashell,
[hold fist up to ear]
Tightly to my ear.
Shh! It's telling me a secret
                [hold finger up to lips]
That only I can hear!

The Sand Castle
I built a little castle, I made it out of sand.
                [cup hands together]
I packed it very carefully to be sure that it would stand.
I stood upon the seashore, it stood right next to me.
                [stand up]
A wave came in and knocked me down and washed it out to sea.
                [sit down]
