What Will You See At the Zoo?
What will you see at the zoo?
Listen closely and I'll give you a clue.
They are big and they are gray
And their trunks swing and sway.
What are they? (elephants)
They are sort of like a horse
Except for their black and white stripes, of course.
What are they? (zebras)
These animals bark and are colored gray.
They have flippers and swim all day.
What are they? (seals)
These birds can't fly and they look funny.
They're black all over except for a white tummy.
What are they? (penguins)
Bananas are their favorite things
And they chatter and like to swing.
What are they? (monkeys)
They are kind of like a cat
But they have a mane and roar (ROAR) like that.
What are they? (lions)
They have tails that look like a fan.
These birds strut around looking grand.
What are they? (peacocks)
These animals like to hop around.
A tummy pouch is where their babies can be found.
What are they? (kangaroos)
They have necks that are long, long, long.
If you guessed a turtle, you are wrong, wrong, wrong!
What are they? (giraffes)
They don't come in just one color or style
But they all like to giggle, laugh, and smile.
What are they? (children)
This is what you'll see at the zoo.
I'd like to go. Wouldn't you?

The Zoo
This is the way the elephant goes,
With a curly trunk instead of a nose.

[clasp hands and move arms back and forth]
The buffalo all shaggy and fat,
The buffalo all shaggy and fat,
[hold arms out to sides]
Has two sharp horns in place of hat.

[point fingers out from forehead]
The hippo with his mouth so wide,
Lets you see what is inside.
The hippo with his mouth so wide,
Lets you see what is inside.
[open and close hands]
The wiggly snake upon the ground,
Crawls along without a sound.

Crawls along without a sound.
[weave hands back and forth]
But the monkey see and monkey do,
Is the funniest animal in the zoo !

[put thumbs in ears and wiggle hands]
At the Zoo
At the zoo, we saw a bear
[shade eyes, then look surprised]
With great big paws and shaggy hair.
[raise hands like claws]
At the zoo, a zebra we found
[shade eyes, then look surprised]
With black and white stripes all around.
[hands criss-cross in front of body]
At the zoo, we saw a seal
[shade eyes, then look surprised]
Who loved to clap for his meal.
[clap hands]
At the zoo, a giraffe so tall
[reach arms overhead]
It could look right over the top of the wall.
[hands at eye level, lower them under chin as though peeking over a wall]
At the zoo, the monkeys run
[run in place]
And jump and swing having lots of fun.
[jump]
